Thanks to the incredibly hard work of a long list of individuals, we’re thrilled to announce that the 2024 State BB Gun Championship was a huge success!

If you aren’t familiar with the Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match and the way that match and individual state championship matches are set up, you may have no idea just how much work goes into making these events happen for youth shooters looking to learn and grow in the shooting sports.

Your Kansas State Rifle Association team was on the ground in Oskaloosa on Saturday, March 23 to talk to competitors and their families, provide moral support for the volunteers, and help present the awards to the victors.

But while we got to participate in the fun, the hard work in making this wonderful event happen was done by an incredible team of volunteers led by Jenifer Weishaar. Showing up at Oskaloosa High School long before registration started at 7:30 AM, and far from done when awards were presented that evening, the hosting team and amazing volunteers put in the elbow grease needed to give competitors an opportunity to compete and qualify for nationals.

This is the hosting team: kids/coaches/coordinator:
Caleb Weishaar (Coach), Ronnie Sellens (Coach), Rod Deekan (Range Officer/Former Coach), Jayden Herrman (Junior Coach), Bentley Weishaar (Champion), Ian Hoffman (Champion), Theodore Weishaar (Team member), Nathan Hale (Alternate), Billy Kabus (Team member), Lucille Weishaar (Team member), Aurora Hoffman (Team member), Mason Baker (Champion), KayLee Meyer (Champion), Cooper Smith (Champion), Eli McGaughy (Alternate), Harlee Sellens (Team members), Chris Hoffman (Coach), Bill Kabus (Coach), Sam Smith (Coach), Gary Hoagland (Range Officer/Former Coach) and Jenifer Weishaar (Coordinator)

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to our KSRA Airgun Committee Chair Sally Stroda who puts in the work to develop the test for these events and so many other things to make the Kansas Airgun and BB gun sports a success.

Enjoy a few photos of the competitors receiving their awards. And if you know any of the competitors, coaches, parents, or the many others involved in the state championship shoot, be sure to thank them for doing their part to promote the youth shooting sports!

Full results from the match are posted here.
